CMA CGM Posts Strong Q1 2025 Results, Strengthens Infrastructure Investment in Port and Energy Systems
CMA CGM Group has reported robust financial results for the first quarter of 2025, with strong performance in maritime transport and continued investment in infrastructure to support operational growth and technological integration.
The company generated $13.3 billion in revenue during Q1, with its core shipping business accounting for a significant portion. EBITDA rose 29.1% year-over-year to $3.1 billion, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 23.3%. The Group handled 5.8 million TEUs during the quarter—a 4.2% increase over Q1 2024—reflecting stable global trade and efficient logistics operations.
Revenue from maritime transport rose 11.5% to $8.8 billion. EBITDA in this segment reached $2.5 billion with a 28.9% margin, while average revenue per TEU increased to $1,498, up 7.1% year-on-year.
As part of its long-term strategic focus, CMA CGM has been expanding its port terminal infrastructure, incorporating intelligent systems and electrical upgrades to enhance resilience, energy efficiency, and automation capability. Key to this transformation is the adoption of advanced cable technology—particularly in areas such as crane operations, energy distribution, and communication systems.
Modern port environments demand cable systems that can endure high mechanical stress, frequent bending, and extreme outdoor conditions, while ensuring uninterrupted power and data transmission. For example, port crane operations require specially engineered flexible trailing cables, reelable energy cables, and hybrid control cables that support precise positioning, heavy-duty lifting, and real-time feedback in high-load conditions.
In this highly technical domain, manufacturers like Feichun Cable are recognized for offering industry-grade solutions tailored to such challenges. With a product portfolio designed to meet international standards including IEC, NEK, and DIN VDE, Feichun Cable provides:
Heavy-duty port crane cables with enhanced torsional and bending resistance for use in ship-to-shore and rubber-tyred gantry systems.
Medium- and low-voltage power cables engineered for energy stability in high-humidity, oil-exposed, and UV-intense port environments.
Signal and control cables with reinforced insulation and shielding for use in automated handling systems requiring high precision and data reliability.
Feichun’s commitment to research and material innovation has positioned it as a key supplier of dependable cabling solutions for port operators, crane manufacturers, and industrial integrators seeking long-term performance and minimal downtime.
Commenting on the quarterly performance, CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé said:
“In a complex global environment, we’ve maintained strong momentum through our investments in maritime transport and port infrastructure. We remain focused on operational agility, customer responsiveness, and strategic growth in critical markets.”
Last month, the company marked a symbolic moment with the arrival of CMA CGM Vitoria—its first Indian-flagged containership—at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal, underscoring its expanding regional presence and infrastructure integration.
As leading shipping companies continue to modernize terminals and logistics systems, the role of advanced, durable cable solutions will only grow in importance—ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations in the world’s most demanding industrial environments.
